Description of Project
In this project my group and I picked a disease that is caused by protein or lack of protein in the body. We decided to pick Alzheimer's disease which affects the person who has it by damaging there memory and awareness. This is in result to an excess amount of protein which causes plaques to build up between brain cells which prevents the ability to send signals throughout the brain. We researched how protein folding works and also how it affects people through a variety of diseases.
We then created a poster that included information about the disease and how it relates to protein. Below you can see this poster along with important terms we used in this project and my reflection about how this project went. This project was fun and very informative that will be useful in future science classes and life.

Reflection
In this project there are many positive and negatives that will positively affect me in future school and life experiences. Two positives include my new knowledge in protein folding and the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease. My new knowledge of protein folding will help me in future science classes because this is a key system in the bodies survival. The other positive, knowing the symptoms of Alzheimer's can be useful in life to keep myself and others healthy. Even if there is no cure people can still slow the deterioration process of the brain if caught early through exercise and eating well.
There were also negatives in this project that I can learn from. One negative was confusion on protein folding which prevented my group and I from fully understanding the concept. This prevented our group from being able to explain the subject until the final days of the project. This hurt our presentation because we sould not prepare
